If you’re from the U.S., Canada, Australia, or most of Europe, you don’t need a visa to visit the Germany, France, or Switzerland for short trips under 90 days, but you may need a quick online travel authorization.
Here’s the breakdown:
ETIAS (the EU version of an entry authorization) is not required yet, but it might launch in 2026. If it does, it’ll be super easy to complete online and costs €7. We’ll keep you updated if that becomes necessary.
Make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond your travel dates!
-
We will be taking high-speed trains for a smooth and comfortable ride between Germany, France, and Switzerland.
-
We recommend packing light! A carry-on sized suitcase or backpack is ideal since we’ll be moving between cities via public transport and staying in shared hostel rooms.
-
We recommend arriving by 3:00PM on Day 1 to allow enough time to go through customs, get to the first accommodation, and settle in before our welcome dinner. The recommended airport is Munich Airport (MUC)
On Day 9 there are no scheduled activities, so you’re free to leave whenever works best for you. If you have a later flight, you can take the morning to explore a bit more before heading to the airport. The airport is EuroAirport Basel Mulhouse Freiburg (BSL).
